The Inca Trail Tours to Machu Picchu are one of Peru's most popular trekking routes. The road is 42 kilometers (26 miles) long and takes 4 to 5 days to complete. Hikers often camp along the trail every night. The second day of the hike is usually the hardest as it is the longest day with the most elevation gain. However, once hikers reach the top of Dead Women's Pass, they are rewarded with stunning views of the Andes. The rest of the trek is mostly flat and downhill, and on the fourth day, hikers arrive at Machu Picchu, one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world
